Great tone from unique tonewoods
Martin's D-16EPD utilizes unique tonewoods to craft a great guitar tone. A Sitka spruce top gives the guitar an aged, detailed, and articulate tone. Sycamore delivers clear tonality and punchy projection akin to mahogany. Great plugged-in tone from proprietary electronics
Martin and Fishman have been working together for over 30 years in an effort to build the best acoustic-electric guitars on the market. And they're at it again, with the Matrix VT Enhance pickup system that you'll find in this D-16EPD. This system consists of Fishman's popular Matrix under-saddle pickup and an Enhance element that can be blended into the signal separately via the soundhole-mounted controls. The Enhance function lets the natural sounds of the guitar come through, which is ideal for players using techniques such as body tapping.




Modified low-oval neck for smooth playability
Whether you need to survive long recording sessions or plan to play out late into the night, you'll be glad you got a D-16EPD. This D-16EPD features a modified low-oval neck profile with a high-performance taper. This slim profile is easy on your hand, allowing you to play extended sessions in comfort. Dogs Playing Poker — a brief history
This Martin D-16EPD is emblazoned with what's arguably the most famous painting in popular culture. And with good reason — who doesn't love anthropomorphized dogs? The work in question, called A Friend in Need, is part of Cassius Marcellus Coolidge's Dogs Playing Poker series. This collection was originally commissioned by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars. A Friend in Need has long been the most popular entry in the series, beloved for its humorous depiction of a mischievous bulldog and his co-conspirator. And what does this teach us? Well, if you're going to play poker with canines, don't trust the sourmugs.
