Alexander Pedals Sky Fi
Delay and reverb is a sweet, sweet marriage of time and space, one which many guitarists have discovered. Unfortunately, having both of these effects means, well, having two pedals. Optimally, we would carve out spots for just one pedal that retained the desirable traits of both, which would then free up space to sculpt our dirt sections or add another modulator. What if we told you that both are available in a compact package with top-mounted jacks? What if this same package offered two distinct and highly adaptable flavors of each? The future is now, and we look to the Sky Fi, by Alexander Pedals. The Sky Fi combines the technologies of two old-school rack units with cutting edge technology that makes the Sky Fi a joining of old and new, with the result being a highly expressive device. The delay engine is based on an old crystal-clear rack delay with a variable tone control to tailor the trails to your liking. This allows you to darken it up for an ambient wash, or crank up the treble for piercing repeats that show the mix who’s boss. Three modes govern the Sky Fi: Wash, which combines an 800 millisecond delay with the slow-building reverb, Gleam, which adds an upper octave effect to the reverb engine, and Echo, which is like Wash except the hold modes change up the functions. More on those later. The reverb section is based on a vintage rack unit with a couple glitches inherent in its coding, which caused artifacts to be present in the signal that retriggered the reverb, resulting in a “slow-building” reverb wash that eventually overtakes the mix. By assigning this to a mix knob of its own, the slow-building reverb only takes as much of your signal over as you let it. The footswitch is triple-purposed: First and foremost, it turns the pedal on and off (of course). Secondly, holding it down activates one of two modes: Infinite Hold and Freeze Hold. Infinite Hold allows you to sustain the notes indefinitely, while playing new notes adds to the frozen section rather than overlapping it. Freeze Hold works similarly, except new notes are played over the top of the sustained ones, for a gentle pad effect. Alexander Pedals Sky Fi Features: Three modes feature different combinations of delay and reverb with dedicated mix knobs for each Infinite Hold and Freeze Hold footswitch modes Master mix control for both effects Standard 9v center-negative power operation (adapter not included) www.music-blvd.com 199.99USD (K) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
