Big Changes in the Original Era.
The Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster takes players back to the original era that started it all. Just two years after it's original introduction, the Fender Stratocaster was gaining momentum and recognition as an icon in solid body electric guitars. However, some changes were made that year that are still felt to this very day. One of the big changes for '56 was body wood itself, changing from ash to alder in all sunburst models (blonde models would feature an ash body, to expose the beautiful ash wood grain.) The thick U-shaped neck was replaced by the now legendary soft-V shape, which is still wildly popular to this very day. Many of these changes would influence later production years, and make the '56 a cherished classic.
