The Affirma bass goes back to the early ’90s when Ibanez entered the high-end boutique bass market. The concept starts with a compact, lightweight body designed by Swiss luthier Rolf Spuler, resulting in an instrument with an elegant look and feel enhanced by its beautiful, sleek shape. The Ibanez Premium Affirma AFR5WAP 5-string meets the critical demands of musicians who require a natural-sounding, sensitive electric bass with wide dynamic range and effortless playability during long gigs. Updated with modern enhancements
For 2019, Ibanez updates the Affirma bass with modern enhancements. The gorgeously figured walnut body delivers unparalleled tonal clarity and note attack. The 3-piece maple neck is reinforced with two graphite rods for added stability and jointed to half of the body. Known to luthiers as “half-neck-through” construction, this helps maximize body vibration and sustain, while the ebony fingerboard provides a tight, bright response. The neck-butt adjustment lets you easily adjust the neck without loosening the strings. A special thumb rest is grooved into the body, giving you a large swath of plucking real estate.




AeroSilk MR5 piezo bridge
The Premium Affirma's AeroSilk MR5 bridge features unique saddles designed to work in concert with the integrated piezo pickups and to enhance the acoustic double bass quality of the sound. Consisting of isolated bridges for each string, the MR5 bridge allows for a wide intonation adjustment range, with each individual bridge securely locked down to the body for maximum vibration transfer without interference. The carefully placed Bartolini X55JX split single-coil pickup delivers a deep and punchy tone. With this combination of the piezo and magnetic pickup, plus 2-band EQ, bassists can quickly fine-tune the perfect tone for any gig or session.
